The Dörpshus Hürup

A village house with two halls, a pub room and its own kitchen — in the middle of Angeln, about 12 minutes from Flensburg.

Information on this page: as at

The Dörpshus Hürup is a Gaststätte — a village inn — with halls for hire in Hürup, Zur Sporthalle 14, in the Angeln peninsula, Schleswig-Flensburg district, Schleswig-Holstein, about 12 minutes by car from Flensburg. The house has two halls that can be opened into one, a pub room and its own kitchen; together there is space for 30 to 170 guests, depending on which hall is used. Access is step-free, there is an accessible WC and free parking right by the house. People celebrate here on any day of the week — weddings, confirmations, christenings, milestone birthdays, funeral receptions, annual general meetings and staff parties — and on 3 evenings a week the pub room is open without an occasion.

What a Dörpshus is

Dörpshus is Low German and simply means village house. It is the house where a village comes together: for weddings and funeral receptions, for annual general meetings and Kohltouren — the winter walks that end in a Grünkohl dinner — and for a drink after work. The name is not an invention for the sign: Low German is still spoken in Angeln today, and a house of this kind has its counterpart in almost every village in the region.

The difference from a restaurant lies less in the food than in the purpose. A restaurant lives on its evening trade; a Dörpshus is first of all a hall in which the village holds its occasions, with a pub room attached. That is why on most days there is no menu open here, but a celebration in the house.

What makes a village community hall →

The house and the municipality

The Dörpshus belonged to the municipality of Hürup. When it was sold, an obligation to municipal purposes was written into the contract of sale for ten years; it runs until 2036. The house therefore remains the village meeting house and is at the same time run as a business — both hold at once, and the one is the condition for the other.

In practice that mainly means one thing: clubs from Hürup have their own weekday arrangements. If you need an evening in the house for your club, call and ask.

How the house is laid out

Two halls and a pub room. Between the halls stands a dividing wall that can be opened; what results is the largest room in the house. Because they are the same two halls, a booking of the Gemeinsame Säle always occupies both — it is not a third room.

Kleiner SaalOur small hall is bright and welcoming, with plenty of daylight through the large window front. It has its own bar counter as well. The hall suits smaller family celebrations, birthdays, christenings, confirmations and funeral receptions particularly well.
30 to 40 guests
Großer SaalThe large hall offers ample room for bigger celebrations. The exposed roof beams, the window front and the stage give the room a character of its own. Depending on the seating there is room enough for a buffet, music and a dance floor.
70 to 130 guests
Gemeinsame SäleFor large events the two halls can be joined together. That creates a generous event space for up to 170 guests. Ideal for weddings, anniversaries, club festivities and big family celebrations.

What the house comes with

Who runs the house

The proprietor and authorised representative is Endrit Miftari. The house is run with its own kitchen and its own staff; it is not a room you rent empty and cater yourself. The full particulars required by § 5 DDG are in the legal notice.

We do not publish prices — neither as a list nor as a range. What a celebration costs depends on the day, the number of guests, the food and the length; tell us the date and the number of people and you get a written offer on one page. A date only becomes binding with our written confirmation; an enquiry is not yet a booking.

Guests rate the house at 4,6 von 5. Read the reviews yourself rather than relying on a figure on our own page.

What takes place here

The occasions the house is most often booked for. The funeral reception deliberately sits in the same row as the wedding: it is a large part of what a village house does, and the families who ring about it should find it without a detour.
